Why Burn Soy Candles?

If like us, you already use Soy Wax Candles, you know the wonderful benefits of Soy Wax Candles for your health and the environment. If you are unfamiliar with Soy Wax and it's benefits, please read on.

The Benefits:

The most commonly known benefit of Soy Wax candles is that they are clean burning and do not produce black soot like most, especially cheap, paraffin candles.  This though, is not exactly true, as everything which burns will produce smoke and soot (carbon). However, the amount of soot which is produced from Soy Wax is very minimal and most people will not notice it. This makes Soy Wax Candles especially beneficial for people suffering from Asthma and other airborne allergies.

Because Soy Wax candles burn so clean, when burned in normal conditions, you will not experience the awful black soot around the edge of your container. However  as with everything else there are Exceptions.

• If your home is drafty, the flame itself may scorch the inside of the container if it flickers too much.

• Your Candle contains metal wicks. While Lead wicks have generally been eradicated from candles in Australia, some may still contain Zinc, Aluminium or other metals. These metals may help to prolong the burn time of the candle, but makes the candle a little chemical reactor, releasing impurities into your home. At Soy Deliteful only use pure cotton wicks in our candles.

• Maybe your Soy Wax candle is a blend of soy & paraffin wax. At Soy Deliteful use only 100% all Natural Soy Wax. We do not blend our wax with other waxes, steric acid, sun blockers etc, ensuring that your candle is as natural as possible.

• Soy wax Candles are also generally less expensive than a comparable paraffin wax candle. This is because Soy Wax burns slower than paraffin. They can bun twice as long and in some cases longer than the same size paraffin candle, giving you more enjoyment for your money. They also use all the wax (don't tunnell), meaning you're not left with half a candle to throw out. In the case of votive candles, you simply wash the container in your sink in warm water and a little bit of detergent. Dry it and you're ready for your next candle or refill. All of our container candles can be refilled.

• Soy wax releases the fragrance better and longer than paraffin candles. This is because being a natural wax; it absorbs the fragrant oils completely, giving you a wonderful fragrance right down to the last drop. Paraffin wax requires chemicals to be added to it in order for it to release it's fragrance. These chemicals are also emitted into your home when it's burning. In fact some of the cheaper scented paraffin candles are only dipped in fragrance coating the outside. Smells great in the shop, but only lasts a few hours at home. At Soy Deliteful we blend our fragrance at the pouring stage ensuring a fragrant home till there's no candle left.
